Kutiman - Amazing “Open Source” Music Production

March 14th

“Mash ups” have long been the best thing about digital music in recent years and some of the best tracks in my playlists are mashups from unsigned / unknown bedroom producers.

But this week “Kutiman” was featured on youtube for his really great compositions (and they are compositions) using audio and video from the you tube user base.

There was some teacup stormage with people thinking (wrongly) that youtube would cane him for copyright and using other people vids.. on the contrary they are promoting him.

Anyway the “Thru-you” series of user-remix music “open source music” is really great, with a real dub / funk / breaks tangent.
