Autumn Colours

All the leaves are brown. - It's that time of year again, with the same sense of foreboding and impending gloom that washes over you in waves. The cold heart of winter is not close, and yet it grows nearer each day.
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=492" title="

Bird in Flight

A bird flies across the Murray. - A happy accident, this blurry and streaky photo still caught my eye in post processing. It feels good to get out and about again, taking photos and generally not looking at a computer screen, although that is precisely what I'm doing now!
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=491" title="

Redback Spider Latrodectus hasselti

A redback spider on a pillow. - Once considered a highly deadly spider, the medical reality seems dull compared to the public perception of this somewhat toxic arachnid. While certainly painful, and serious, only female bites are potentially dangerous and in many cases healing is rapid and uneventful. In some hundred cases each year however, bite victims are treated with anti-venom.
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=490" title="

Bridal Sari

Bride surrounded by her wedding sari. - This brief moment at a wedding I attended this weekend caught my eye. The ceremony mixed both western and Indian tradition, with the bride receiving a sari during proceedings. The groom held the sari high above her, and it's deep red silk contrasted amazingly against her fair skin and dress.
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=489" title="

Bushfire Sunset

The sun distorted by the smoke. - The sunsets have been remarkable lately with the fuel reduction back-burning around north-east Victoria. I must admit, I'm not sure why exactly this happens. Heat 'shimmering' or the classic mirage you see on a hot road, for example, is where the density of the air causes light to change speed or direction. I suspect something similar is happening here, causing the sun to look like a massive, fall
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=488" title="

Rainbow Coloured Iris - Just a quick little photoshop I've seen many times but wanted to try myself. Adjustment layer with Black and White filter, then a masked layer for the iris slightly feathered with a rainbow gradient set to about 30% opacity and ''soft light'' blending.
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=485" title="

Very Small Hermit Crab

A very small hermit crab! - This has to be the smallest hermit crab I've ever seen! I had to be careful not to crush him accidentally in my fingertips.

Apologies for the inactivity lately, my beloved camera is somewhere in the depths of Canon, Sydney after being sent away for repairs due to my general overuse while overseas. I think taking over 6,500 photos of the clouds for the timelapse recently may have been overkill.
<a href="http://deography.com/?photo=483" title="
