Pictured here, a cess puddle outside a locked abondoned railway house. Hundreds of homeless live outside, sleeping under the stars among the rats, dogs, cows, and plague insects for which the place is a fertile breeding ground. Some corrupt railway gaurds charge the poor to open the shelter for the night and let them in, where they can keep their meagre possessions dry, or cook food during the monsoon. This shelter is being repaired and will become a sanctuary for the children with approval for the project by police and railways who both struggle with the number of people using the railway spaces.
