You know a galaxy is made of stars – but did you know galaxies have “globs” of those stars? They are spherical clumps of stars that just hang together without the need for a big central black hole. You might not know much about globular clusters ; but nobody does! Scientists don’t know how they form exactly, when they formed, why they show dual populations of young and old stars or how they relate to dark or missing matter. At what point is a glob still a glob or a big enough to be a stripped dwarf galaxy? I took this photo of a glob and you can’t tell me what it’s called because, honestly, they all the look the same (It’s M22)!
