Expensive by India standards, but affordable by our exchange rate, the rooftop Koyla restaurant was a pleasant break from the chaos of the busy Indian metropolis. Beautifully creamy lamb, chicken and goat curries were served with fresh naan bread and two massive hookahs with apple and cinnamon flavored tobacco. It took a while to get them going, and the waiters had to sometimes stoke the embers by drawing huge smoky breathes themselves. The tables were all set under open air marquees under the starless Indian night sky.
