In the last couple of days planet Mars has moved to it’s closest point to it’s evil twin Antares, which in ancient greek translates to “That big bloody red thing in the sky that totally looks like Mars”.

Can you spot the imposter?

This colourful region of cosmic dust clouds is known as the Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex and makes a pretty amazing backdrop to this conjunction.

Canon 70D / f6.3 / ISO 1600 / 135mm
6 x 130s exposures (piggybacked, unguided)
