At first I thought it was endearing that this stout little bird kept returning each day to my balcony, staring longingly into the windows at my pet cockatiel. Maybe they had become friends, I imagined. After some cursory research however it’s clear that this bird probably wants to eat my pet. I was able to use my cockatiel as a kind of “bait” however by keeping her cage out, allowing me to get a very close photo. I also observed it hopping over to my outdoor sofa, looking under the cushions and fishing out a spider to eat… all within a few meters of me.
