I’ve been exploring less popular destinations in space lately and I have not been disappointed. This region near the Serpens side of Scorpio lacks the clarity and brightness of other popular targets in the area. I used the wide and fast RASA to reveal the structure of the dark nebula but the dense area of new stars contrasts well against the red hydrogen and the patches of reflectivity. Since it doesn’t seem to have a common name, I’m going to nickname it the Hermit Crab Nebula. If that’s a good name for it, I shouldn’t have to point it out! If not, leave your suggestions in the comments 🙂
