Trains stopped running on these tracks in 2004 after 110 years. The tracks are still mostly walkable all the way into Byron Bay apart from patches of trees or shrubs now starting to overrun the rails. As an icon of industrial progress, there’s something ironic and bittersweet about their desolation.
