Australian White Ibis - Threskiornis molucca

These chicks had not flown before and became anxious the closer I came to the nest. The parents had long flown away on my approach, but the chicks stayed put and I captured a few shots of the birds before leaving them.

I used a tripod for this photo, but mostly as I was waist deep in weedy water I needed something to hold the camera out of water lest I slip. It was a hard walk, but we found many nesting areas for Reed Warblers, Ibis, Great Egrets, and possible Nankeen Night Heron.
