The sunsets have been remarkable lately with the fuel reduction back-burning around north-east Victoria. I must admit, I’m not sure why exactly this happens. Heat ‘shimmering’ or the classic mirage you see on a hot road, for example, is where the density of the air causes light to change speed or direction. I suspect something similar is happening here, causing the sun to look like a massive, falling fireball. Any thought’s dear reader?
