Snorkeling in a place like Maldives as an amateur photographer, without the necessary gear for underwater photography is very frustrating. Inevitably you buy a cheap disposable film camera which gives you blurry photos with washed out color you don’t remember seeing at the time. (Your brain naturally adjusts to the spectrum shift underwater), but camera’s white balance can over compensate.
While at the beach in South India I remembered going through the bargain bin at Kathmandu and found this waterproof bag going for AUD$1.00. I wouldn’t have trust it with the DSLR and it wouldn’t have fit, but it was big enough for my sony cybershot and test swims were successful. The drawstring was great to hang the camera around my neck while snorkeling. I ended up taking hundreds of photos that would have cost as almost as many dollars in camera and processing fees.
