Did you know that Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers) is co-founder and owner of the award winning Crystal Skull Vodka, sold in a beautifully rendered glass skull bottle? Pictured here, the large 1.75 litre ($199 AUD – 56 standard drinks) bottle illuminated by an industrial laser beam which was the first thing I thought to do with it before drinking it. It is a really great piece of design and marketing whatever you think about the vodka. I personally don’t know enough about vodka to tell you if it’s any good. Anything with such a high alcohol content simply tastes like liquid fire to me.

Here’s another photo of the laser refraction patterns (speckle) projected onto the wall as the laser passes through the bottle. Laser “speckle” was originally considered a drawback as a kind of uneven illumination but has since been used for many applications such as holography and tracking the movement of a computer mouse across a surface.
