An easy way to find butterflies in the bush is too look for the lantana weed, usually full of flowers where the native species are not in season. This allows species such as this one to flourish for longer annually than usual.
This girl may be Eurema alitha (Scalloped Grass Yellow) or Eurema hecabe (Common Grass Yellow) although it is hard to tell from the underside of the wing only. I even checked with the Vic Museum Info Zone, a great service for invertebrate identification, who forwarded my photo to Michael Braby, author of the groundbreaking field guide to Australian Butterflies.
