Young couples walk along the tide hand in hand, families pose for photos at the sea-side and others simply stroll its length as the sun sets on Mumbai’s western coast. Juhu is not too far from the airport, so local hotels are often use in transit for travelers passing through town. The oily beach is laden with plastics and garbage that ravens and malnourished dogs pick through, but despite this walking along Juhu’s shore is a welcome reprieve from Bombay’s hustle. Markets like this one appear at points along the beach selling fruit, hot food, drinks, music, rides and more.
