The Laughing Kookaburra, so called for its iconic cackle familiar to Australian’s everywhere, is the largest of the worlds 86 kingfisher species. A competent reptile hunter, the Kookaburra actually consumes insects as the major staple of its diet.
Interestingly, the Laughing Kookaburra was introduced to the western side of Australia in 1897 and has lived and bred there successfully ever since.
