Pictured here, an Apple Mac Mini powers a name server and small website for a national ISP housed in its server facility amongst the cabling of the rack. As the Apple operating system OSX (Operating System 10) uses a BSD varient UNIX kernel, open source and commercial software such as BIND and Apache work natively. OSX server distribution would improve performance for larger network tasks, but generally this configuration works sufficiently well for tasks such as small websites or service redundancy. Many hosting operaters offer colocation and webhosting facilities on the Mac Mini platform, as the dimnutive size makes them ideal for telehousing.
