The Murray River is over 2500 kilometers long and stretches from South Australia to the southern east coast. Mark Twain compared it to the Mississippi when he visited in the 1800’s. In recent years its level has been fairly low due to significant drought conditions which are, arguably normal Australian weather patterns exacerbated by global warming. Recent rains have filled the Lake Hume catchment area to capacity, allowing once again the flow seen pictured here.
