The Murray Turtle lives in South-Eastern Australia in the Murray River. It eats crustaceans, mollusks, and fish but sometimes will eat aquatic plants as well. They can sometimes be seen basking in the warm sun on logs and on the shore, but are quick to dash away into the water if they hear somebody, like a photographer, approaching.
Murray turtles breed in summer and lay up to 10 eggs in the river bank’s soft earth. Incubation is usually 60 to 70 days.
