Rainbow Bee-eaters are an amazingly aesthetic bird found across most of Australia except Tasmania and the far west. They nest in the sides of river banks and the holes they dig in the sandface can extend for over a meter.
Being one of my favorite birds, I was happy to finally capture many good close photos of them in the wild, killing insects, males and females and seemingly unphased by the man in the water looking up at them. I’ll try to post some more later.
