A common bird even among human settlement, The Red Wattlebird is one of the largest of Australia’s Honeyeaters, often seen with its head in a bud feeding on nectar. Its distinctive “chock” call sounds more like a cough that the melodic trill of its other honeyeating cousins. The younger birds have browner eyes unlike this adult’s distinctive red eye.
