The temperature of the water on the australian south coast is not nearly as nice as it is north of Brisbane, where it begins to be comfortable, but is refreshing none the less on a hot summer day. The clarity of the water at Sever beach, along Haycock Road in Ben Boyd National park just out of Merimbula, prompted me to wade out into the middle of the river mouth and take a photo, if only just to remember this magnificent beach. Kangaroo’s grazed on the grassy water’s edge and oysters and crab share space amongst the rocky periphery.
