The Kosciuszko National Park surrounds several dams designed to generate hydro electricity by moving water westward rather than its natural course eastwards to the sea. This is considered a remarkable engineering feat and the hydro-electric scheme’s official opening was conducted by Queen Elizabeth herself.
A quick hello to Rob, the hitch-hiker I gave whiplash to as I veered off the road to capture this sunset, the only glimpse of sun I had seen that entire day as I drove over the great dividing range.
