Visitors to Albury may have passed through the main street and central park square and raised an eyebrow, as I did when I first saw this confusing artwork many years ago. At first glance it appears the artist has depicted some kind of sex act, I’ll let you decide what. The two figures are definitely male, the lower having his rippled bare back exposed, and the naked man who appears to be ”receiving” stands upright looking uncomfortably ahead. If anyone knows the history or artist behind this work please drop me an email, I can’t imagine this visual innuendo went unnoticed at its unveiling, although perhaps Freud would have a thing or two to say about the viewer.
