The Gorakphur region has many associations with Indias royals and famous heraldry, including King Rama. It was also the scene of civil unrest during Ghandi’s protest movement. The gorakhnath temple (pictured) was built for the yogi Baba Gorakhnath, author of the first books on Yoga.
