At first glance, with western eyes, a factory such as this invokes the notion of sweatshop labour. In truth however, in a nation where millions of children live in slum conditions and severe poverty, learning a skill such as tailoring, and working in a stable factory such as this in conditions far greater than many endure is a hopeful and greatly cherished career path. A stable income will give a young worker the means to support themselves and their family and equip them with skills with which to further their autonomy.
