Cobras are a diverse family of snakes (Elipidae) most recognizable for their hood, a flap of skin and muscle that flares out when provoked, presumably to appear larger to predators. Snake charmers rear the snakes and remove their fangs in order to train them to rock and sway with accompanying music, thus earning the charmer a living entertaining tourists.
