During the Indian winter, lighting small fires using cardboard, rubbish, twigs and still green branches is common among the poor where electricity, gas or other heating methods are not available. This contributes of course to the creeping fog that hovers over the continent and extends out to sea, separting the world’s most religious country from the majestic stars that inspired them.
