The aging dhoni’s engines leave oily residue over the water and traditional anchors tear through the coral reef, creating a problem for the livelihood of all Maldivians. On this fishing trip, we used basic line to drop bait 20 meters down onto the reef floor where we caught and ate a variety of fish.
