As the drought sets in, the Hume Dam has reduced the output of the flow into the Murray River down to below minimum flows to 400 Megalitres per day. The lake itself is low, but the Murray has been reduced from a once mighty river into a series of sandbars and islands. Most points around Albury are no more than a meter deep or less.
