The King George river separates the Alpine National Park and the State forest near Mt Buller, a landscape punctuated with historic huts and pierced with lengthy 4wd tracks, inclines, river crossings, and mud flats. Many of the other drivers are friendly and helpful and the camping area at Pineapple Flats is usually well populated, although don’t expect any amenities, this is hard terrain and far from most creature comforts.
