Dividing the south east coast of Australia and the Murray Darling region are the mountain ranges, some of which encompass the Kosciusko National Park, home to Australia’s highest mountains. In the winter months the snow covered ranges host the ski resort faithful while in summer, the often barren landscape is visible to travelers crossing the divide. Even in 2006, the burnt lifeless trees from the 2003 fires are all that remain for vast tracts.
