He scowls and gurgles and speaks gruffly as he begs for alms. I give him 10 rupees (30 cents) and ask if I can take his photo. He seems surprised as I motion to my camera but understands and leans back as I come down to his level. Like most Indians, he stares intently and very seriously into the camera, but with such a horrific stare I can’t help but feeling a little ashamed. After I take a few photos, without properly considering composition, exposure or anything, I put my palms together and bow to say thankyou and walk back into the crowd.
