”To spread filth is the nature of animal, We are Human.” reads the sign, apparently without irony. The obvious of course, is that humans are animals. The sign is positioned at the area before the entry where everyone is required to take off their shoes, and mere meters away on the other side of the Mosque, I used the #1 dirtiest pit toilet I’d ever seen during my time in India. Apart from being filled with excrement the pipework underneath was open to drip down onto a brown mound of cess below the building where a community of people lived alongside the untreated sewage.
