As spring retreats, this eucalpyt leaf changes colour and glows in the afternoon sunlight. Have you heard the one about the American that bought a eucalypt tree for his porch? He took it to the tree doctor when its behaviour seemed strange only to be told that it is normal for a eucalypt not to shed its leaves in autumn and instead to shed bark all year round.

As a photo the eucalypt leaf is a uniquely potent Australian icon, unmistakabely beautiful.
