Folk Rhythm and Life - Chai Tent

Chai, which literally translates as ”tea” from many languages, is a spicy Indian milk drink that is popular with the festival scene but also as an alternative to regular milk based drinks in cafes. While it increases in popularity in the west, coffee culture is permeating India with coffee houses and cafes appearing in the east.

At the tenth Folk Rhythm and Life 2005, I spent much of my time reclining on pillows, with a warm cup of chai, talking to my good friends at length. I wonder perhaps that this simple tradition is time honored but oft forgotten.
