This is a photo of a local guitarist at the open mic night. These kinds of portraits are difficult due to the low lighting at venues such as this. I prefer not to use flash due to the way it can falsify the setting with harsh frontal light. In this case I’ve opted for a longer exposure to get the venue lighting on the subject and captured some natural motion in the guitarist’s strumming hand.
