The huge Rosette Nebula (NGC2237) has so many different parts it’s divided into at least 5 distinct NGC objects. I often find myself drawn to this inner section (NGC 2238) which is a sinewed knotting of dark nebulae dust scattered about the inside near the open cluster of new stars. Some people can see a panther (or jaguar logo) jumping towards the cluster. I really like the tiny black spots of dust which are Bok globules – the progenitors of new stars – often binary doubles or multiple star systems. You can also see many of these dark globules have resolvable tails pointing away from the hot star cluster as the solar winds push through them meaning these exotic objects are “Cometry Globules” – neat!
