I am lucky to live somewhere with relatively dark skies, even if the sea breeze contributes to the atmospheric distortion. This was just a quick test photo from last night but it turned out better than I expected. Although it is sometimes an exercise in patience, there is something wonderful about the quiet contemplation in the night air that makes backyard astronomy a lovely way to spend an evening.
