I thought I’d slip in this wide field photo of Comet Siding Spring racing past Mars last night before NASA and the other professionals share their amazing photos of the event. Last night Comet Siding Spring went closer to Mars than any comet has ever been observed going by any planet, including Earth. NASA moved it’s Mars orbiters to the far side of the planet to protect them from ice debris and 2 of the rovers should have been able to image the comet from the ground.
