I almost didn’t post this today because it’s so rough, only 15 minutes of exposure time through the telescope. But with the weather conditions being what they are this year it looks like I won’t see these features until next summer as they roll westward and out of view. The horsehead nebula is a really classic astro image, and one I can admit to admiring in magazines well before I bought a telescope.
I’ve always thought it looks like a chess knight, that dark dusty shape that covers a long strip of energised hydrogen gas. What do you think?
