Guess who’s back? Back again? Galactic Core. Tell a Friend.
It’s Milky Way season again with spectacular views of the galactic core rising in the east from about 8:30pm. Best viewed on moonless nights and especially easy to photograph with a tripod and a 30s exposure away from light pollution.
This was taken 2am this morning from Coffs Harbour.
For the photo nerds : I stacked 5 x 30s / f2.8 / ISO 1600 exposures in Nebulosity to average out the ISO noise in the stellar regions, then layered a single exposure of the building separately (masked) so it wasn’t blurred by the stacking. Adjustments to levels and saturation in Photoshop. There is some coma (lens distortion) right at the top of the image which is only avoidable by spending a lot more money that I do on glass!
