An effect I’ve only seen a few times myself called a ‘moon dog’ appears as a wide bright halo around a bright, usually full moon. It occurs as light refracts around cirrus or cirrostratus clouds and this one was far too big to fit into my widest angle lens. It was a little hard to capture correctly without a tripod but the exposure is right and hopefully gives you an idea of the halo’s shine.
