I got so hung up on imaging nebula that I’d forgotten about 12 stacked 2m exposures I did of The Pleiades, a cluster of stars with some faint reflection nebulosity. This is taken with my Canon 70D and a regular kit 135mm lens piggybacking on the tracking mount as it follows the stars. You can see some tree leaves on the left of frame for some sense of scale.
This cluster is easily visible with the naked eye, though the blue nebulosity is not without a longer exposure. The cluster of stars have a bunch of names relating to mythology and have historical ancient significance but it’s all boring and ultimately pointless to know any of that. What is interesting however is that our relatively much smaller star, the Sun, is 50 times older than these young whipper snappers.
